Star Academy is dedicated to providing quality education in the performing arts, which is complimentary to, yet independent of academic studies.
Star Academy will provide an excellent training by creating an environment where the potential for learning through Musical Theatre is as limitless as a child’s imagination.
It will be the aim of Star Academy to educate a child to achieve the greatest possible measure of personal, social and physical development of which he or she is capable.
Star Academy specialises in raising pupils’ self esteem, confidence, communication skills, creativity and imagination, providing a place of learning where each pupil’s full potential can be developed within a caring, fun and challenging environment.
Our Timetable
Our Timetable
Weekly training is 1 1⁄2 hours during which time children will experience varied disciplines of dance, explore themes, games and dramatic activities, alongside some beneficial vocal training.
Star Academy’s structure is designed for infants, juniors and seniors, with classes being split according to age.
Star Academy runs for 36 weeks per year, split into six terms. Term dates are set at the beginning of each academic year.
Our Staff
Our Staff
Star Academy has trained their staff to be inspirational, safe and effective teachers, following a structured and progressive plan that teaches children the principles of dance and drama whilst being consistent. Staff work on teaching new techniques and methods while developing students’ skills and creativity.
It is a policy of Star Academy to employ experienced Dance and Drama teachers. All staff are enhanced CRB cleared for suitability to work with children and are fully covered by Public Liability and Teacher Liability insurance.
Regular inspections are carried out throughout the year by senior management or by an independent agent.
All Star Academy staff have attended first aid courses and hold the relevant certificates. They will deal with minor cuts, grazes etc. Where more serious injury occurs we will make every effort to contact you immediately.
We do request that parents/guardians keep us updated with telephone contacts, as in the event of an emergency only a relative can give permission for a child to be treated by a doctor or a nurse.
Uniform
Uniform
Star Academy uniform is an inexpensive T-shirt bearing the Academy’s logo and is available for purchase at all of our schools. This should be worn with black jazz pants, or black jogging trousers. For health and safety reasons Jazz shoes must be worn and can be purchased from Star Academy. Any female students entering for Musical Theatre examinations will be required to wear the School regulation leotard for the dance section. This is available to purchase alongside all of our other Star Academy merchandise.
Discipline
Discipline
Study of the performing arts necessitates strict self-discipline and Star Academy seeks to educate its students in an environment of obedience and disciplined behaviour. Star Academy reserves the right to dismiss students who are consistently disruptive. Parents are expected to help their children observe the following simple but essential rules:
• Star Academy uniform must be worn
• Long hair should be tied back
• All jewellery and accessories should be removed before lessons commence
